Por este motivo, la Universidad de La Laguna promovi&oacute; a trav&eacute;s de las redes sociales un concurso de ideas para dotar de una denominaci&oacute;n oficial al edificio. La propuesta ganadora fue Torre Profesor Agust&iacute;n Ar&eacute;valo, en referencia al docente que, siendo decano de Ciencias, negoci&oacute; con el ministerio la construcci&oacute;n del inmueble para ampliar las dependencias de la entonces Facultad de Qu&iacute;mica. Hoy, martes 22 de febrero, se ha celebrado el acto de presentaci&oacute;n de la nueva rotulaci&oacute;n de estas dependencias.<\/p>\n<p align='justify'>El acto cont&oacute; con la presencia del profesor, ya jubilado, que da nombre al inmueble, y en &eacute;l, el rector de la Universidad de La Laguna, Eduardo Dom&eacute;nech, destac&oacute; que con esta ceremonia se subsana un olvido hist&oacute;rico y, sobre todo, se honra a un miembro destacado de nuestra comunidad universitaria.<\/p>\n<p align='justify'>Para encontrar la denominaci&oacute;n del edificio, la Universidad de La Laguna opt&oacute; por un concurso abierto en una de las redes sociales m&aacute;s populares de Internet, con el objeto de involucrar en la decisi&oacute;n a toda la comunicad universitaria y, especialmente, a los alumnos m&aacute;s j&oacute;venes del centro. Esta iniciativa sirvi&oacute; asimismo para dinamizar el perfil de la ULL en Facebook, donde ya cuenta con m&aacute;s de cinco mil usuarios.<\/p>\n<p align='justify'>El rector destac&oacute; que este acto de rotulaci&oacute;n sirve tambi&eacute;n como homenaje a un destacado miembro de la comunidad universitaria. Coment&oacute; que el profesor Agust&iacute;n Ar&eacute;valo Medina es una figura de capital importancia en la historia de la Universidad de La Laguna, y un miembro muy querido y respetado por la comunidad.
